CMMI® – Why Should You Care?
Data: 8/24/2006
On 27th September 2006, Poland’s first Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) conference was held. Prepared by Software Mind and Kugler Maag CIE event focused on the question why we should care for CMMI®.

The primary goal underlying the conference was to initiate discussions in the field of increasing efficiency of Software Process Improvement (ang. Software Process Improvement - SPI), others included the exchange of experience and opinions concerning the CMMI model between the representatives of industry, universities and science, and specialist organisations. Besides these, the conference made it possible to compare the experiences of firms that are currently implementing CMMI and those who have already attained a high CMMI maturity level (3-5).

Among the delegates, there were representatives of co-authors of the model, the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) who explained the CMMI methodology. Jay Douglass, Director of SEI’s Business Development answered the leading question of the conference, CMMI® – Why Should You Care? in a single sentence: “Otherwise, your company will incur additional costs, and your competitors will run streets ahead of you!”.

AXA Belgium, DaimlerChrysler, Deutsche Bank, and Motorola experts invited to the conference shared with the participants their practical experience and know-how of the most interesting SPI questions, as e.g. how to avoid the most fundamental errors in planning and management of software development, how to manage project budget and timetable, and how to cooperate with external IT providers.
