SQAM 2008 Conference
Software Mind invites to the SQAM 2008 Conference, to be held April 28 – 30, 2008 in Warsaw.

The objective of the conference is to enable exchanging experience and opinions between representatives of different sectors related to quality assurance management in IT projects - SQAM (Software Quality Assurance Management). The event offers a unique opportunity for specialists in software quality and testing to meet together and gain theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of software engineering.

Software Mind, as a company operating in the IT industry, is continuously striving to foster good practices connected with IT system quality improvement. The company’s strong emphasis is on appropriate optimization of production processes, and while working on innovative projects for its demanding Customers, it notices measurable benefits from high quality of the IT products delivered.

We particularly invite you to two theoretical presentations to be given at the conference by Ms. Monika Braun, Software Mind Quality Director:

  • "Agile or strictly defined – test process depending on the project methodology", April 29, 2008, 01:00 – 01:45 pm.
Quality control is gaining importance in the entire software engineering process, and IT companies more and more frequently choose to define the test process. Some models or methodologies define directly what the tests should be like, which allows them to determine their scope. Others provide tips on how to test only. The lecture will show what the test process should be like, and also present tests as such in different methodologies and models.
The first part of the session will be a general overview of the test process. It will explain why it is worth defining, implementing and enhancing the test process in an IT company. Furthermore, it is to show elements the test process should include and relations expected between the test process and the software production process. The next part of the session will be devoted to tests in different methodologies and standards and it will advise on which of the standards should be used on a regular basis and which of them are useful only in specific project types.

  • "Hit-or-miss – significance of test risk management", April 30, 2008, 01:20 – 02:05 pm
Risk management in the test process is often neglected. Even if risk analysis is conducted, the person to perform it is the Risk Manager responsible for the entire project risk. The lecture is supposed to present advantages of project risk identification, analysis and management in a test team.
The objective of the lecture is to convince the participants that the preparation and development of a preventive plan in case of negative risks will indeed allow for minimizing or eliminating the occurrence of the test risk, whereas a contingency plan will enable effect mitigation in a situation when a risk changes into a problem.
