Software Mind SA has become a technological leader of the ROBUST project, which is implemented by a consortium of international companies and institutions on the request of the European Union. The aim of the project is to build a solution that will allow gaining knowledge about the behaviour of a network and social network users. The project was started in November 2010 and will last for three years. The total budget of the project is EUR 10.3 million. |
Software Mind SA, due to its unique competence in the field of semantic technologies and Social CRM solutions, has become the leading member of the consortium consisting of ten international companies and research institutions, which include the following companies: SAP AG (SAP Research), IBM Israel - Science and Technology LTD (IBM Research, Haifa), Polecat, Temis and research institutes: University of Koblenz - Institute for Web Science and Technologies, National University of Ireland, Galway - Digital Enterprise Research Institute, University of Southampton - IT Innovation Centre and Centre for Operational Research, Management Science, and Information Systems, Technical University of Berlin - Database Systems and Information Management, The Open University - Knowledge Media Institute.
Software Mind SA is the main technological supplier and the architecture developer of the whole solution, is also responsible for the implementation of work management.
The aim of the project is to gain knowledge about the behaviour of a network and social network users. The ROBUST project allows understanding and solving the challenges created by the online societies. These challenges relate both to the technical aspects of the community service (e.g. infrastructure capable of efficiently supporting millions of posts on discussion boards) as well as issues related to the effective extraction and multidimensional analysis of huge amounts of interconnected data describing the users’ actions.
The ROBUST project’s aim is especially the following:
- creation of appropriate techniques allowing real-time tracking of user behaviour and user groups and identifying patterns of their behaviour and new topics,
- provision of modern tools to detect opportunities and threats facing the societies (and automatic response to them),
- provide tools allowing to measure different characteristics of the community, present visual representation of its ‘health’ and explain why its members behave in a certain manner.
The exemplary application of the project will be:
- detection of users, whose actions may have destructive influence on a given community,
- analysis of posts as they are typed in order to provide the user with a list of threads that potentially contain already given answers to the bothering problem or retrieve and display the list of experts on particular topic,
- continuous update of the community state visualisation allowing the supervisor to quickly define threats and opportunities of the community. This will allow to e.g. strengthen weakening communities, take quick and precise marketing actions in order to benefit from sudden increase in discussion activity concerning particular topic.
